As the Agile philosophy continues to increase in popularity DevOps have become more important than ever. A recent study showed that companies that fully embrace the DevOps mindset outperform the S&P 500 and had shorter development cycles.
DevOps has come a long way from its grassroots beginnings in the 1980s and it is now a mainstay in the software development cycle and much can be learned from the best and brightest in this field. The best way to keep up to date with these individuals in through twitter and for this reason we have created a list of 20 DevOps influencers to follow on Twitter. This list is not exhaustive and is in no particular order.
@mikewcohn Mountain Goat Software – Mike Cohn was one of the original Agile practitioners and contributors of the SCRUM method for Agile. He is also one of the founders of the SCRUM Alliance, the leading organization dedicated to the effective implementation of the Scrum methodology. He has over 20 years of experience in the DevOps field and is full of useful insights and information.
@JayneGroll CEO and Co-Founder of the DevOps Institute (DOI) – Jayne Grolls has over 25 years of experience in the realm of IT management. She is a certified Scrum Master, and a certified Agile Service Manager.
@bgracely Director of Product Strategy Red Hat – Author of the popular article 7 Habits of Highly Effective DevOps, Brian is always tweeting about DevOps and related topics. He also runs a podcast which many people find interesting and enlightening.
@allspaw Co-Founder Adaptive Capacity Labs – Author of the Artof Capacity Planning, has worked for companies such as Flickr, Friendster, Infoworld, and salon.
@garethr Director Product Manager at snyksec – Gareth Rushgrove runs DevOps weekly, one of the most popular publications within the community.
@realgenekim Founder of IT Revolution – Gene Kim is the author of WSJ best selling book The Unicorn Project. Kim, a household name in the development sphere, is known for his insightful talks and his wealth of knowledge.
@patrickdebois Independent IT consultant – Patrick Debois is the father of the term DevOps. He served as CTO at Zender and is still a practicing IT consultant.
@jpaulreed Senior Engineer, Netflix – Over 15 years of experience focused on getting products shipped faster and more reliably.
@stevesmithcd Continuous Delivery Consultant – Prior to running his private consultant business Steve worked for companies such as Sky Network, The Financial Times, and Visa. He is considered a leader in the field of continuous delivery and for this reason, he should be followed.
@ashimmy CEO Media Ops – Shimel is the co-founder and current CEO of DevOps where he writes articles and hosts podcasts on all things development. He is also known for his work in the security industry as well as for his talks and presentations.
@markimbriaco Technical Director, Epic Games – Mark has worked for some well-known companies such as Heroku, Digital Ocean, GitHub, and 37Signals and currently works for Epic Games. He is a noted speaker in the industry.
